Phil is perfect vocally to bring NPC. it just works!
Especially with the band he has for this show.
Now Alabama Getaway maybe not so much.
(but heck if Weir can take a shot at all those Garcia tunes.).
Anyway, excellent sound and top notch musicians.
Also enjoyed the all female vocals on Playin--
In a Donna Jean Sista's style.
P.I.T.B jam is mighty swell to boot!
The transition into Watchtower sounded a little like a UJB -Phil puts down nice Bass into Watchtower.
The jam out of Watchtower is all SPACE
and NEW POTATO is Baked! (Thanks Mooding)

Very impressive playing, with two brilliant guitarists (Kaukonen and Kimock) and Dave Ellis' tenor sax for added colour. The chain of r&b tunes - Mignight Hour, Smokestack Lightning etc -is spellbinding and All Along the Watchtower really takes off.

I wasn't as impressed with this show as some of the other P & F's from this year. Seems like the bulk of the next night made it onto the official CD release and for good reason. There's some rough miscues here and there. A band not quite jelling. The New Potato Caboose is pretty hot .
